𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞My name is Samra Avdic. I was born and raised in Hartford Connecticut. My parents immigrated here from Bosnia when they were teenagers and finished off their high school careers here. My parents never had the opportunity to go to college so I knew I wanted to make them proud and attend college. I plan to attend UCONN’s school of business in the fall. After that, I hope to attend law school to become a family lawyer. I’m a proud Muslim, I’ve went to Saturday school since kindergarten. Once I graduated I knew I wasn't ready to leave that part of my life behind so I decided to volunteer to teach first graders on Saturday mornings. All my life I've loved to be with kids. When thinking about my future I knew I wanted to pick a career that could help children. Family is the most important thing to me so the opportunity to help other families come together is the only thing I can imagine doing. For my capstone I wanted to donate school supplies to my old elementary school. I collaborated with Highcrest elementary to host a school supply drive with the 2nd and 4th grade classes.

I want people to remember the way I made them feel. Throughout my life I have always remembered the things that people have done for me. My mission is not only to positively impact my life but also the lives of people around me. I hope to work as a family lawyer. Hosting a school supply drive at my old elementary school will help children in need of school supplies. As a privileged individual I hope to help children who haven't had the same opportunities as me.
