Throughout my life I have feared rejection and one of the biggest things I've learned from my capstone experience is how I handle rejection. I delayed my project for so long due to the fear of getting rejected by a school and to have that fear come true scared me. I learned how to get up from a setback and it made me be more determined to get this project done. Working with the students at Highcrest and Bellizzi has been an experience that I'll keep with me throughout my life. I've always loved working with kids and helping my community but these two things made this experience even better. When I got to Highcrest I was having doubts if the students were going to be passionate about giving back to students that they didn't know but the students were surprised by being so excited. I can't think of another capstone idea I would have cherished more than the one I picked. In the future I hope to work with children as a family lawyer and this experience of helping the children in my community boosted me further into my future career. One of the other major things I learned from this project was to stay on top of my project. This was the first time I had an independent project and it taught me how independent I am. Staying on top of emails and outside teachers was something I never did before but I made it a goal to not let this project go. I wanted to succeed and help the community that made me the person I am today. Capstone was something I've always looked forward to in my past years at SMSA and I was worried I would not do enough but standing here today I am proud of the work I did to help Dwight Bellizzi. I hope in the following years a senior will pick a project similar to this. Helping the place you grew up is a full circle moment and i hope more people feel this feeling
